HowNowVideo.com HMC150 Video Review

Before purchasing Panasonic’s AG-HMC150 AVCCAM, David Teubner’s HowNowVideo.com Review, was one of the first videos I came across the internet. The video was extremely informative, and helped finalize my decision to purchase the camera.

David Teubner began his review with the stunning weight of the HMC150 (3.7 lb.), comparing it to the heavier Canon XH A1 High Definition Camcorder. The weight of the HMC150, gives it the advantage in the Glidecam department. This makes the Glidecam HD2000 Stabilizer System a great option.

He then moves to the most important feature of the HMC150, that it records to SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity, SD 2.0) memory cards, as opposed to MiniDV Tapes. Noting that to work with the AVCHD, a “beefy,” editing system is a must… “At least a quad core, 64-bit Vista machine.”

David ran down other features including its Wide-Angle Lens, (eliminating a lens adapter for wide shots), its built-in microphone, XLR inputs, audio volume control, peaking control and Phantom Power. An audio disadvantage noted, was a lack of a stereo mini-plug input. Other features noted was its optical image stabilizer, zebra control, white balance, and more.

Teubner later demonstrates editing MTS files from SDHC cards in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4.
